This generation of AI tools assumes you already understand AI, and that assumption excludes almost everybody. People should not have to learn AI in order to use AI — the software should learn it for them.
Nathan is a solo human founder with autism and ADHD, and Ask Zai is built around that lived experience: the way lost context, configuration friction and interfaces that move between sessions cost some people far more than they cost others.

We are privately funded. After fourteen months of development and serious interest from venture capital, we turned the traditional route down — not because VC is bad, but because our build does not work that way. The daily routines that make this work happen do not survive the kind of intrusion a traditional cap-table relationship brings. So we did it differently: backed by infrastructure partners across compute, delivery, voice and safety. The blend is ours, and it stays ours.
Two UK patent applications have been filed at the Intellectual Property Office, covering the core orchestration architecture and the emotional monitoring system that underpins the Guardian Watchers. Both are pending: neither has been examined and neither has been granted. We do not publish the application numbers here — if you need them for due diligence, contact us and we will share them.
We are not raising, we are not advertising, and we have not launched. The beta opens in October 2026 with a small cohort of free trial accounts — every feature unlocked, with a set amount of usage credit included. When the credit is spent you can top up or simply walk away: no subscription, no lock-in. It is not about revenue; it is about watching real people use an AI that works straight out of the box.
